Universities & Colleges

One campus network, with the right access for every student, staff member and guest

  • Let students and staff sign in with the accounts they already have, with their own credentials instead of a shared password.

  • Give each group its own speeds and policies, with student housing, devices and visitors handled separately.

How we help universities and colleges

Secure Wi-Fi for a campus full of users, devices and groups, and for the team running it.

Different Access for Each Group

Place groups on different VLANs and give each its own policies, such as different speeds for students and staff.

Sign In With Existing Accounts

Users connect with accounts from Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace and other directories, so there's no separate Wi-Fi account to maintain.

Individual Credentials

Every user and device connects with their own credentials or certificate, instead of one shared password.

Passwordless Access

Devices connect with certificates or Passpoint profiles, with no passwords to type, share or steal.

Fair-Use Limits

Set rate limits and time and volume quotas per user or group, where your hardware supports it.

Student Housing

Give every resident their own Wi-Fi password and service tier with xPSK, including for devices such as smart TVs, and end access automatically when they move out.

Visitor Wi-Fi Kept Separate

Welcome visitors through a branded captive portal, separate from your students and staff.

Professional Services

Our network experts can help with design, predictive surveys, installation, testing and more, for new sites or upgrades to your existing network.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do students and staff connect to the Wi-Fi?

With 802.1X, each user signs in with their own credentials or certificate, checked against your user directory, instead of a shared password.

Which user directories can it connect to?

SQL databases, Google Workspace, LDAP, Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, among others. If your directory isn't listed, get in touch: we can integrate with other identity sources too.

Can students and staff get different speeds?

Yes. You can create service tiers based on group membership, such as different speeds for students and staff, and users can be placed on different VLANs based on their directory groups.

How can students in halls of residence connect their devices?

With xPSK, each resident gets their own unique Wi-Fi password and service tier, including for devices such as smart TVs. Access can end automatically when they move out.

How do visitors connect?

Through your captive portal, with the sign-in you choose, such as one click or email or SMS verification, separate from student and staff access.

Will it work with our existing Wi-Fi equipment?

Splash Networks works with access points and routers from many vendors. See our Supported Hardware page, or ask us about your equipment.
